I wouldn't trade my 5 years in college for anything in the world but am excited to begin a new phase of my life. Having no school obligations is a pretty mind blowing thing to me as I have been in school for 18 years now. It has been a fun ride in Raleigh and I will miss everything about it, from the football and basketball games to the Driftwood House to my crazy roommates and friends to the Hillsborough Hikes to everything else that happens in college.... cramming for tests, making horrible decisions in school, eating way too much fast food, being talked in things I shouldn't do, waking up 10 minutes before class and even sleeping through class, being hungover, taking intramural sports too seriously, and plenty of other things that shouldn't be mentioned. Most importantly, I'm going to miss all the people I have met in Raleigh who I won't get to spend much time with anymore. I have definitely met some awesome friends here and these are the people who made the college experience for me.
As of now, I want to travel from now, May 2011, until the 2012 Olympics in London which begin in August. Then I want to move to a new city to work (unless I can find a business opportunity to hit it big before then.... which I will then retire and buy a casino). My plans for right now (let me be the first to say, these change about once a week as I keep thinking of different ideas)
May 31-June 14 NC State Study Abroad trip to China (Beijing and Shanghai), South Korea (Seoul), and Thailand (Bangkok).
June 16-June 19 U.S. Open Golf Tournament- Right outside of Washington D.C.
June 23- June 28 Trip to Atlantic City, New York City and a golf outing at Bethpage Black for Ryan Kelley's bachelor party.
July 30th- Ryan Kelley's Wedding
First Week of August until Thanksgiving- 100 Day Road Trip Around the United States and Canada with Allen Bradley and Bub Hunter
These are the only ones set in stone so far but other trips in the works for now

- British Open- or better known as simply the Open Championship for whatever reason now.
- PGA Championship
- Ryder Cup
- 2012 Olympics in London
I have had the opportunity to travel and take some time off before going to work because of my dad, who passed away in 2003. His hard work and a good business decision or two has made it financially feasible for me to not work and travel worry free. A shout out to him is going to be a common theme in every post as well to many of my friends and family. Thanks for everyone who is going to follow me as I begin my travels. When I get paid billions of dollars for this blog or hit it big on a business idea, anyone following can gamble for free at my casino. Let's get this train rolling
Sounds awesome Jimmy, hope you have an amazing time! I would add going to the Himalayas, I imagine they would be quite a sight. One day I will travel the world and you will have to give me some tips! Be safe and have fun :)

what about Macchu Picchu? you always said you wanted to go back there! Can't wait for your travels to begin!
ReplyDeleteFor Africa, I highly recommend climbing Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania. The area around the mountain is very "African" with regard to the people and culture. Also the best place to take a Safari.
ReplyDeleteAnd so the fun begins!!! Don't get lost!
